In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2’s fourth episode, “Gloves Off,” the Disney+ series does something especially unnerving with the sharpshooting antagonist, Bullseye, played strikingly by Wilson Bethel. For a moment, it lets him look almost ordinary before reminding us exactly who he is in the confines of a cozy and charming diner. While the episode opens up on Dex’s usual routines filled with scenes of helping an elderly neighbor, listening to music, and heading calmly to a diner for a milkshake, that controlled ease soon stretches into outright carnage.
